Clothing collection for family following home loss

According to the Ada First United Methodist Church, the Ada family that lost their home on January 21 to a fire is staying in Lima until new housing is found in Ada.

The family's home was a total loss. The children have received one pair of shoes each, a new coat, hat, and gloves from family friends. The children have limited clothes, shoes and no toys. The family has received some bedding donations.

Jan. 26 Community Meal at St. Mark Lutheran

St. Mark Lutheran will be host a free community meal from 5-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26. The meal is free and open to the public at 125 S. Johnson St., Ada.

The January menu is Cook's Choice of hearty meat, veggies, fruit, and cookie.

Ada postcard display-ONU student project

The Ada Public Library has a display of local postcards created in late December 2021 by students of history professor Dr. David Strittmatter at Ohio Northern University.

The Icon connected with Aliya Mitchell, a civil engineering major, for details on the exhibit.

Were these cards selected from a larger collection?

We selected the display from over 250 postcards and photos in the Ada Public Library. There were so many interesting ones from class pictures, streetscapes, and people milling about. It was very difficult attempting to narrow the selection down to fit the space provided.

Ada-USV girls basketball game rescheduled

The Ada High School girls basketball game scheduled for Monday night, January 24 at rival Upper Scioto Valley was postponed due to inclement weather.

The varsity-only contest has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 5 at noon in McGuffey.

Library Board meeting rescheduled

The Ada Public Library board meeting for January has been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26.
