Youth punt, pass, kick event will advance top finishers to regional competitions

August 27 football festival includes PPK-sanctioned event

As a part of the 6th Annual Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival, the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce is coordinating a Punt, Pass & Kick USA, Inc. (PPK) competition on the afternoon of Saturday, August 27. Ada VFW Post 9381 is the sponsor for the 2022 PPK competition.

Young football fans will have the opportunity to exhibit their football skills at Ohio Northern University’s Dial Roberson Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the competition will commence at 1:00 p.m.

The competition is free and open to boys and girls ages 6-15.

Bulldog baseball loss to Polar Bears

Ada hosts Spencerville in sectional semifinal May 17 at 5 p.m.

The Ada High School baseball team lost to county rival Hardin Northern 13-3 in a non-conference makeup contest under the park lights Friday evening.

Ada dropped to 6-13 with the defeat. HN improved to 12-9 with the run-rule shortened, six-inning win.

The Polar Bears jumped on top early as they scored four runs in the first frame with the aid of three errors, a single and a walk.

Ada got an infield hit in the home first from junior Jacob Sutherly, but were unable to score.

AHS Track & Field: Day 1 NWC meet results

The Ada High School track and field teams competed in the first day of the annual Northwest Conference championship meet at Crestview Thursday, May 12.

A few final events took place Thursday. Ada junior Courtney Sumner took fourth in the long jump to register the best Lady Bulldog finish of day one. Teammate Olivia Green came in right behind her in fifth.

The Ada girls rank sixth after day one, with the Bulldog boys eighth. Columbus Grove leads both the boys and girls standings.

Most of the event finals take place when the meet resumes Saturday morning.

Bulldog baseball beats rival Mustangs

The visiting Ada High School baseball team scored four late runs to beat local arch-rival Allen East 7-5 in a Northwest Conference makeup contest at Harrod Thursday evening.

Ada improved to 6-12 overall and finished 1-7 in the NWC with their first league win. Meanwhile, the Mustangs fell to 4-12 and 0-7 in NWC play with the defeat.

The Bulldogs trailed 4-3 heading to the sixth inning, when they scored four times to grab a 7-4 lead.

Spencer Wall relieved starting hurler Kadin Phipps late and pitched the final inning while giving up one run to earn the save.
