Ada spikers fall to Kenton in home opener

By Cort Reynolds

The Ada High School volleyball team fought hard but lost a four-set battle in their home opener to visiting Hardin County rival Kenton on a very hot Tuesday evening, August 23.

The Bulldogs dropped the heated bout 25-19, 25-21, 20-25, 25-15 before a loud and boisterous crowd.

The tough loss dropped the Ada record to 2-1, while Kenton improved to 2-0 with the win.

"Basically I felt we started slow and Kenton out-hustled us early on," said Ada head coach Kyleigh Woodruff. "We made too many errors; you can't make 21 hitting errors in a close match.

"Our serve receive wasn't as clean as usual," she added.

Talented Bulldog girls soccer squad looks improved under new coach

By Cort Reynolds

First-year varsity girls soccer head coach Doug DeWese looks to field a much improved Ada High School squad this fall.

"Our goals are achievable, it is just a matter of finishing off games," said Dewese of the team's potential. "We have got to have the confidence that we can win.

"Our goal is a 10-win season," he noted with optimism. That total would easily set a program record for wins in a season.

Nine letter winners and one senior return to the varsity roster in an attempt to achieve that lofty but reachable end. Ada fashioned a 2-10-1 overall record and went 0-5-1 in Northwest Conference action last fall.
