Darlene Brown Vandemark worked for Rhodes State College

Darlene Brown Vandemark, age 73, of Ada, passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Lima Memorial Health System.  

She was born on October 1, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Cecil R. and Ruby (McClain) Brown.  On August 22, 1981, Darlene married Dale Vandemark, and he survives in Ada.

Memorial service scheduled for Joyce A. Balogh

Joyce A. Balogh, age 78, of Ada, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 2:20 AM at her residence in Ada, surrounded by her family.  

She was born on May 22, 1945, in Orwell, Ohio to the late Milton and Marjorie (King) Phillips, Sr.  On August 17, 1963, Joyce married Dale Kuhn and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1998.  She later married Raymond Balogh on November 25, 2000, and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2018.

Patrol reminds drivers to ‘Buckle Up’ and ‘Drive Sober’ for Memorial Day

COLUMBUS – During the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be highly visible on Ohio’s roadways promoting traffic safety. As motorists travel this weekend, troopers are reminding drivers to utilize their safety belts and to be responsible by designating a sober driver. The effort begins at midnight on Friday, May 26 and continues through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 29.

Hardin County crop yields for 2022

HARDIN COUNTY–As Hardin County farmers finish planting this year’s corn and soybeans, crop  yields from the 2022 growing season have been released from the United States Department of  Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service. Although these crop production  numbers are based on estimates, they are used for crop insurance and government reporting  purposes.

The 5th meeting of the Lynn Valley Farmers 4-H Club was held on 05/24/2023 at the Lynn Township Hall.

  • Pledge of Allegiance led by Conner
  • 4-H Pledge led by Sawyer
  • Roll call was led by Vice President, Layelle Coulson. Response was your birthday.
  • Last meetings minutes were read by Secretary, Meredith Donnelly
  • Minutes were approved
  • Treasurer’s report was read by Treasurer, Aubrey Wilcox.
  • The club balance is $465.09. Pay your dues to Aubrey.
  • Moved into the meal.

The Alger Public Library will be closed Monday, May 29, 2023, in observance of Memorial Day, and will reopen on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
