How you can help the Red Cross

The Red Cross depends on financial donations to be able to provide disaster relief immediately. Help people affected by Hurricane Harvey by visiting redcross.org, calling 1- 800-RED CROSS or texting the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from this disaster.

Cinnamon: Pantry staple - and medical powerhouse?

Ohio Northern University pharmacy faculty member Dr. Amy Stockert's cinnamon research is featured today in a story by Sandee LaMotte on CNN's website. Dr. Stockert is associate professor of biochemistry.

Stockert is quoted in the story, saying: "A lot of the studies have been in postmenopausal women and men of that age. Some have found positive effects; other studies have not."

HARDIN COUNTY FAIR PARTICIPANTS:  Any students involved with the fair, please stop in the high school office and pick up a vacation form.  The completed form must be turned in at least one week prior to the fair.

Melina Woods gets 1,000th volleyball kill

First-ever Bulldog to achieve this milestone

ADA - The Ada volleyball team lost in three sets to visiting MAC powerhouse Coldwater Thursday evening in a non-league match as Bulldog senior Melina Woods reached a program milestone.

The Bulldogs (3-2) fell to the unbeaten Cavaliers 25-10, 25-15, 25-22 but Woods became the first player in Ada annals to reach 1,000 career kills midway through the third set.

The versatile southpaw Woods knocked down 17 kills and added 11 digs, two blocks and one ace in the match.

New driver's education classed offered

Offering includes Abbreviated Adult and From the Passenger Seat classes

Drive Time Driving Instruction, based in Bluffton and Findlay, has expanded its offerings to include Abbreviated Adult and From the Passenger Seat classes.

Abbreviated Adult
New drivers, over the age of 18, are not required by law to take driver’s education before taking the driver’s test. However, on July 1, 2017, a new law went into effect requiring new drivers over the age of 18 who have never had a driver’s license and who fail the driver’s test to take Abbreviated Adult driver’s education.
