Library book drawing underway

The Ada Public Library Holiday Book Drawing is underway until December 15.  Patrons receive an entry ticket every day they check out an item from the library. Winners of the drawing will receive a copy of one of these books:

  • "The Big Cheese” by Jory John and Peter Oswald (4 - 7 yr)
  • "Bea Wolf” by Zach Weinersmith and Boulet (8 – 10 yr)
  • “Wrecker” by Carl Hiaasen (11 – 13 yr)
  • "The Infinity Particle” by Wendy Xu (14 - 18 yr)
  • “The Covenant of Water” by Abraham Berghese (adult)

Limited to one ticket per day. Ask a librarian for more information.

November16-18 performances of the 2023 ONU Holiday Spectacular at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts (Ada) are sold out, but tickets for Decmeber 1-3 performances at Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center (Lima) are still available. Learn more HERE.

Ohio continues into peak time for deer-related crashes

COLUMBUS ___A reminder to motorists regarding the increase in deer-related traffic crashes this time of year has been issued by six agencies that respond to and track incidents.

Since 2018, statistics from the Ohio State Highway Patrol show there were 104,328 deer-related crashes on Ohio’s roadways. While 95% of deer-related crashes only resulted in property damage, 33 crashes resulted in fatal injuries to motorists, with a total 34 people being killed. Additionally, 47% of these crashes occurred in October, November and December.

The reminder includes these points:

Financial aid meeting at Ada High School,

Ada High School will hold its annual Financial Aid Presentation for students, parents and community members on Monday, November 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium, 725 W. North St. 

A representative from Ohio Northern University will provide information that is applicable to all colleges and universities. Topics to be discussed will be completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and sources for aid. 

The specific concerns of those attending will be addressed. The meeting is open to the public.
