Ada Music Boosters Annual Chicken BBQ August 29th

Tickets are now on sale for the annual Ada Music Boosters chicken barbecue, always held behind the stadium the evening of the first home football game of the year. This year the Chicken Barbecue will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, before the Bulldogs host USV.

The annual event is a major fund-raiser for the Ada Music Boosters. Proceeds benefit numerous projects for Ada’s instrumental and vocal music programs. Tickets are being sold now through August 22nd. Contact any band or choir member to purchase tickets, or call Dave Smittle at 419-230-8147.

The Alger Memorial Festival Committee is sponsoring a country-style breakfast on Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Alger Social Center on Main St. in Alger. 

The menu includes biscuits, sausage gravy, hash browns, scrambled eggs, fried apples, sausage patties and beverage. Suggested donation is $7.00. All-you-can-eat (on premises only).

Apollo’s Academy of Medical Careers will hold an open house on Monday, July 21 from 2-6 p.m. in its new downtown location. For the next two years, The Enterprise Building at 201 W. Market Street, Lima, will be home to Apollo’s adult medical programs while the school’s main campus is under construction.

The medical community, area businesses, city, county and economic development officials, along with the community, are invited to tour the facility.

The Western Ohio Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, at the Forest/Jackson Public Library (the train depot) located at 102 W. Lima St., Forest.

Those attending will have a home-cooked Amish dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a presentation at 7 p.m. Karen Moore will talk about “The History of Forest, Ohio, on the Lincoln Highway.”

The dinner includes salad, chicken/roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, bread, pie and a drink. The cost is $15 per person. Call 419-203-5779 for a reservation.
