Alger Library summer reading program

The Alger Library summer reading program kickoff will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5 with Dr. Ooze and his Totally Gross Magic Show.

Dr Ooze has created magic at its grossest with strange noises, slimy green stuff, and foot fungus. To be chosen as one of Dr. Ooze’s helpers during the show, create a sign that says “Pick Me.”

 Additional information about the summer reading program, including a calendar of events, will be available at the kickoff. Children, teens and adults are welcome to participate in the program. Check out the library’s Facebook page or website at algerlibrary.org.

Kid’s Carnival in Kenton

The Kroger Crusaders Relay for Life team will sponsor a Kid's Carnival from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday June 2. The event, at Wharton Park in Kenton. Will feature a clown, a train, laser tag, an obstacle course and prizes. Tickets range in price from 50 cents to $25. Concessions will also be available. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. For more info email [email protected].

Area artists in ArtSpace/Lima exhibit

ArtSpace/Lima announces The Exhibit Committee Exhibit, to run from June 8 through July 21, with an opening reception on Friday, June 8, 6:30-8:30 pm.  The reception is free and open to the public.

Year after year, the ArtSpace Exhibit Committee offers advice and professional assistance in the construction of  the ArtSpace exhibit schedule. This exhibit gives the members of that committee a chance to show their own work in a unique statement of the kinds of expertise we depend on.  

Wednesday baccalaureate time changed to 8 p.m.

The Ada High School baccalaureate service will take place at 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 23. This is a change from the original time of 7 p.m. in order for the girls' softball team to have time to return to Ada after their softball tournament game.

Next Alger breakfast June 2

The Alger Memorial Festival Committee will sponsor a country-style breakfast from 7-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 at the Alger Social Center, 210 N. Main. Biscuits, sausage gravy, hash-browns, scrambled eggs, fried apples, sausage patties and beverage will be served for $7 for all-you-can-eat or carry out. Call 419- 679-8460  for free delivery.
