Flu season is here, and that means you or a loved one might have been diagnosed with the flu.

You are not alone. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as of Jan. 11, between 6 and 7 million Americans had already gotten sick with the flu.

Can the Flu Be Treated?

Yes—the flu can be treated with antiviral medications.

Antivirals are medications that fight the flu in your body. These medications are not sold over the counter. They require a prescription from your doctor.

What a table Flavours by Sodexo at ONU set!

Raspberry brie, Spanakopita, poached eggs, winter cheese board, macarons, hot apple cider and donuts … just for starters.

The table set, many tables, in fact, filled the McIntosh Ballroom as Flavours showcased its wide-range of food catering choices on March 15 to invited guests to promote its catering program.

Elaine Adams, catering director, said the Sodexo catering service handles hundreds of events year-around, and it want to expand its catering.

Open house Sunday at 16534 TR 51

Property will be auctioned on April 20

An open house is set for 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 24, at 16534 Township Road 51, Bluffton.

The property will be auctioned on April 20. The property includes approximately 23.6 acres and a homesite in three parcels. The country home and building is on approximaately 2.5 acres in Section 30 of Union Township, Hancock County.

Siefker Real Estate and Auction Co., Ottawa, is handling the open house and auction.

3 Brothers Pizza now open for lunch

3 Brothers Pizza, 105 S. Main St., Ada, is now open for lunch seven days a week, according to Brian Clum, owner.

New hours follow:
• Mondays through Thursdays –
   11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
• Fridays and Saturdays –
   11 a.m. to midnight
• Sundays –
   Noon to 8 p.m.

The pizza shop also has a new six-page menu. A copy is printed at the bottom of this story as an attachment.

Brian and Kelly Clum purchased 3 Brothers Pizza from Rod and Linda Dysert at the beginning of the year.

New med for depression

Esketamine is considered the first big depression advance since the approval of Prozac — and it just got approved.

Dozens of antidepressants have been approved over the years. These include Eli Lilly’s “blockbuster” drug Prozac, which was approved in 1987. But there haven't been any new advancements in other types of antidepressants that work in different ways.

Spravato (esketamine), a nasal spray to treat treatment-resistant depression, offers the first new mechanism of action in 30 years to treat major depressive disorder (MDD).

Internal medicine residency program

St. Rita’s receives initial accreditation

Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center has received initial accreditation for the newly developed Internal Medicine Residency Program. 

The program is a three-year program and is approved for a total of 36 accredited resident positions. Medical student candidates will be able to apply in the fall 2019 via ERAS (interview process) and we will participate in the 2020 NRMP (match). The first class of 12 Internal Medicine residents will start on July 1, 2020.
