Donna E. Williams, 87, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020 at 9:24 a.m. at her residence in Harrod, surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 19, 1933, in Harrod to the late Virgil L. and Irma D. (Basil) Bechdolt. On June 17, 1951, she married Richard Williams, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Williams was a 1951 graduate of Harrod High School, where she was the class salutatorian. She was a graduate of Ohio Northern University with a double-major in History and Political Science. In 1958, she co-founded Williams Excavating, Inc., with her husband.
The freight railroad that passes through Ada will begin a multi-million dollar update in its Lima rail yard.
The Chicago, Fort Wayne and Eastern Railroad (CFE) will receive $462,000 to match $4,358,547 of its own funding and a $4,530,546 grant to assist with upgrades in the Lima Yard and on approximately 11 miles of track from Lima to north-central Indiana.
The announcement was made at the Nov. 18 meeting of the Ohio Rail Development Commission.
CFE was among four grants the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) approved.
Ada schools will continue in its remote learning mode through Friday, Dec. 4, according to an announcement made Friday on the school website by Meri Skilliter, superintendent.

American country music singer Carrie Underwood is out with My Gift. This is her seventh album and first Christmas-themed effort. Underwood won the fourth season of American Idol in 2005.
Her debut single, “Inside Your Heaven,” made her the only country artist to enter at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Underwood’s debut album, Some Hearts (2005), featured crossover hits “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Before He Cheats.” She won three Grammy Awards for the album, including Best New Artist. The Christmas album dropped in September.
Ohio Northern University's fall semester ended early this year by plan. Students finished classes on Nov. 20. The covid-19 pandemic altered ONU's academic calendar with classes beginning earlier this year. Students will not return to campus until after the new year.
