What's cooking at the library?

Ingredients include liquid starch, school glue, food coloring, water, and, for good measure, some small foam balls

What are these teens cooking up?

The ingredients include liquid starch, school glue, food coloring, water, and, for good measure, some small foam balls.

When done, their concoction is called Slimey-Wimey Goo, which turns out to make a type of foam that can be molded.

It’s one of the Ada Public Library’s after school activities for teens. Oh, and they were served waffles (the real kind) made by Natalie Walton, library youth activities director.

“Chefs” are Elsie Allen, Madison Archer, Alden Boulanger.

Reading Carnival planned for May 4

Star Wats is the theme of this year’s Reading Carnival sponsored by the Ada Academic Boosters to encourage reading. The Carnival, for students from kindergarten to 5th grade, will occur on Friday, May 4, in the 86 Gym.

There will be carnival games, pop corn, and a bulldog shop. Wilson the Ada Bulldog will be around for pictures with students.

The event is organized by parent volunteers with Amber Simon and Lori Poling as this year’s co-chairs.

Public Library celebrates grand reopening

Photos and story by Monty Siekerman
It’s time to celebrate...cut the ribbon and open the door of the Ada Public Library’s new look, a facility that will probably do the community well into the next century.

Work on the renovation and addition has been going on since last July. Miraculously, the library closed for only one week during that time (to install ceiling tiles and wiring).

Patrons continued to flow into the library during construction, and they came out in force on Saturday during the Grand Re-Opening, because now all is done, the dust cleared, even the grass seed applied.
