Richard J. “Rich” Reichelderfer served in the U.S. Army

Richard J. “Rich” Reichelderfer, age 57, of Lima, passed away at Lima Memorial Health System on Monday, January 27, 2025. 

He was born on June 3, 1967 in Lima, Ohio to Robert and Carolyn (Long) Reichelderfer of Lima. Rich married Gina K. Sanders and she survives in Lima.  

Also surviving are his three children: Rachel (Bailey Cotrell) Reichelderfer of Columbus, Felicia (Jeff) Thompson of Alger and Chad (Jenny) Plaugher of Hedgesville, WV; seven grandchildren: Ross, Dylan, Evan, Elizabeth, Adilynn, Cason and Lily; four great grandchildren: Piper, Braylynn, Beckham and Keenan; and two sisters: Vicki Kerr of Lima and Angie (Robert) Compton of Alger. 

Craft & Sip fundraiser for Alger Public Library

The Alger Public Library is holding a Craft & Sip fundraising event on Saturday, February 22 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

The invitation: "Come create your own sign or other wood item and help Alger Library raise money! For $40 per person that includes supplies, sign and light snacks.

Hardin County Lamb Banquet on March 1

The 2025 annual Hardin County Lamb Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 1 at St. John’s  Evangelical Church. The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. The meal will consist of various cuts of lamb. Attendees  should arrive early to participate in a silent auction to benefit the scholarship program. Banquet tickets this year are  $20 for adults, $10 for children and, exhibitors for free. 

Reservations need to be made by February 21 by calling the OSU Extension office at 419-674-2297 with all tickets paid for at the door at the banquet. 

Phone isssues at Village offices resolved on January 29

UPDATE There was an issue with calls from Verizon callers. The issue has been resolved.

At about 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, the Village of Ada issued this notification:

All Village phone lines are currently down. Our phone provider is working to get the problem fixed. We will provided an update as soon as the problem was been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Bulldog girls basketball falls to USV

ADA __ The Ada High School girls basketball team fell victim to a three-point barrage by traditional arch-rival Upper Scioto Valley in a 51-39 defeat Tuesday, January 28.

USV drained 11 three-point goals to spell the difference in the outcome. The Ram girls nailed three triples to spark a first-half ending 11-2 run. USV then drilled three more treys in the third period, including a four-point play, to build a 20-point lead.

Ada gamely fought back with a 15-point fourth period, but the deficit was too big to overcome.

Bulldog swimmers duel county rival

KENTON – The Ada High School swim team faced county rival Kenton in a meet Tuesday, January 28, at the Hardin County YMCA on Senior Night.

The Bulldog girls lost a close dual bout to the hosts, 81-63. The Ada boys fell to the Wildcats, 84-35. 

Kenton won the combined boys/girls meet, 165-98. Ridgemont also had a few individuals compete as the Gophers totaled 15 points.

“What a great senior night,” said third-year Ada head coach Ashley Robey. “Excellent turnout from the community in support of them and the team.

“We had a lot of great races,” she added. “On to sectionals.”
