Oh, if only...

Oh, if only these trees would bloom all summer. Spring arrived in Ada and blooms are changing every day. Here's some familiar flowering trees on the ONU campus on South Main.

Village Voice: High school volunteers visit Ada - need any help?

On Saturday, June 7, participants in the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Foundation Seminar will be performing community service throughout the village.

The participants are high school sophomores and juniors from around the state, and they are attending the HOBY seminar being hosted on the campus of ONU that week.

The students are able to assist residents and organizations on that Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. To ensure that the day runs smoothly, residents are asked to contact the Village Office by Friday, May 23, to discuss project options and guidelines.

2014 Ada HS Salutatorian - Sa’ed Al-Olimat; Valedictorians - Matthew Wilcox, Annabel Pinkney

Several Ada High School seniors were honored on Wednesday evening during the 2014 Senior Departmental Awards. Those award winners follow:

Lee Grismore taught at Ohio Northern University

Dr. F.L. (Lee) Grismore Jr., 77, of Ada, died at home on Monday, May 13, 2014.

He was the son of Fred and Princess (Long) Grismore of Pandora, Ohio.  Born on June 11, 1936, he grew up on the family farm and graduated from Pandora-Gilboa High School in 1954. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Ohio Northern University in 1958, an MSEE from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in 1961 and his PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1970.

County Line Church of Brethren BBQ June 12

County Line Church of the Brethren is holding its 9th annual Chicken Barbeque dinner from 4-6 p.m. on June 12, 2014.

The meal will be provided by Harlan's catering of Pandora. Tickets are $8.00 each and includes: 1/2 barbeque chicken, green beans, au gratin potatoes, dinner roll, and homemade pie. You may dine in or carry out. County Line Church of the Brethren is located at 4227 N. Hardin Road, Harrod, Ohio.

Memo to "gifted students": ONU has a summer camp for you

This summer, Ohio Northern University will host its 10th Summer Academic and Honors Institute for gifted high school students who will be freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors in 2014-15.

This year’s institute includes 17 challenging courses scheduled over the month of June.

Each weeklong course provides a great way to investigate potential career choices or college majors. Plus, this is the perfect opportunity to interact with other gifted students with instruction provided by ONU professors and special guest lecturers.
