ROANOKE, Va.—Ohio Northern sophomore Jacob Reed (Lancaster) finished third at 141 pounds, and senior Chase Sumner (Ada) and fifth-year senior Jordan Hardrick (Dayton/Wayne) also claimed All-American honors Saturday on the final day of the NCAA III Wrestling Championships at the Berglund Center.

Sumner placed fifth at 149 pounds, and Hardrick was eighth at 165 pounds.

"This caps an awesome career for both Case and Jordan leaving as All-Americans," ONU head coach Ron Beaschler said. "Jacob still has two years to go. He wrestled tight this weekend, but he'll bounce back."

The top eight wrestlers in each weight class earn All-American honors. ONU's three All-Americans this year ties the program's single-season record, matching 1970 and 1994.

The Polar Bears now have 22 All-Americans in program history.

Reed is a back-to-back All-American honoree after placing third at 141 pounds last season as a freshman. He is the fifth two-time All-American in program history.

Reed, the No. 2 seed, finished 4-1 in the 141-pound bracket over the course of the two-day, double-elimination tournament.

After going 2-0 on Friday, he fell in a 6-3 decision to Sam Stuhl of Augsburg (Minn.) in Saturday's championship semifinals. He proceeded to get a 5-4 decision victory over No. 4 seed Kyle Slendorn of Stevens (N.J.) and secured third place with a pin of fifth-seeded Domenic Difrancescanton of The College of New Jersey in 3:40.

Reed closed his sophomore season with a record of 44-1 and has a career record of 87-6 for a winning percentage of .935.

Sumner, the No. 8 seed in the 149-pound bracket, was 2-1 on Friday and opened Saturday with a 7-3 decision win over Chase Parrott of Springfield (Mass.) in the consolation third round.

After getting pinned by No. 2 seed Hayden Brown of Johnson & Wales (R.I.) in the consolation semifinals, Sumner secured fifth place with a pin of third-seeded Thomas Monn of McDaniel (Md.) in 0:57.

Sumner finished 4-2 in the tournament to end his season with a record of 40-6. He boasts a career record of 98-18 for a winning percentage of .845.

Unseeded in the 165-pound bracket, Hardrick went 2-1 on Friday to secure a top-8 finish. He opened Saturday with a narrow 3-2 decision loss to New York University's Cooper Pontelandolfo and fell via 3-1 decision to No. 4 seed Nathan Fuller of Wartburg (Iowa) in the seventh-place match.

Hardrick was 2-3 in the tournament and finished the season with a record of 43-8. In five years at ONU, he is 118-45 overall for a winning percentage of .724. His 118 victories rank sixth all-time at ONU.
