Women's basketball, November 26

ANGOLA, Ind.—Clutch shots from sophomore Abi Akamine (Lahaina, Hawaii/Lahainaluna) and freshman Mackenzie Suprano (Cutler/Waterford) helped the Ohio Northern women's basketball team secure a 53-50 victory over No. 8 Trine (Ind.) on Saturday, November 26, at the MTI Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 4-1 overall while dropping the Thunder to 3-2.

Ohio Northern made 18-of-50 field goals for 36% and was 4-of-15 from 3-point range for 26.7%, while TU made 16-of-49 field goals for 32.7% and was 10-of-32 from beyond the arc for 31.3%.

ONU was 13-of-15 from the free-throw line for 86.7%, and Trine was 8-of-12 for 66.7%.

The Polar Bears out-rebounded the Thunder by a 38-31 margin.

Northern returns to action at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, opening Ohio Athletic Conference play at home against No. 19 Marietta.

Men's basketball, November 27

Senior Landen Long (Mason) scored a season-high 20 points to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team to a 75-53 victory over Alma (Mich.) on Sunday afternoon, November 27, at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears (3-2 overall) also got a career-highs of 13 points and five assists from freshman Will Miller (Ottoville).

Northern made 29-of-58 field goal attempts for 50.0 percent and was 6-of-14 from three for 42.9 percent, while Alma was 21-of-65 from the floor for 32.3 percent and hit just 3-of-26 from beyond the arc for 11.5 percent.

ONU out-rebounded AC 41-36 behind a career-high 11 rebounds from Berner to go with hie eight points.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday, December 3, when they open Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 2:00 p.m. contest against No. 17-ranked Marietta as part of a men's/women's double header at the ONU Sports Center.
