Twila Kilburn was Roundhead EMS Chief for 36 years
Twila L. Zapp Kilburn, age 65, of Roundhead, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 30, 1956, in Kenton, Ohio to Eugene and Venice (Combs) Shepherd, they preceded her in death. On June 7, 1975, Twila married Ronald L. Zapp, Sr., he preceded her in death on April 14, 2007. On September 3, 2010, Twila married Anthony “Tony” Kilburn, and he survives in Roundhead.
Also surviving are Twila’s four children: Ron (Keli) Zapp, Angela (Adam) Zapp-Gratz, Cory (JoAnn) Kilburn, and Lindsey Kilburn; nine grandchildren: Jillan (Jeff) Parker, Makinna Zapp-Gratz, Braiden Zapp, Gwen Kilburn-Lacroix, Brittany (Andy) Blatz, Brandon Carter, Dominic Thomas, John-Keith Thomas, and Isabelle Kilburn; three great grandchildren: Nahla Long, Grayson Parker, and Eloise Elizabeth Blatz; five siblings: Annie (Arthur) Gullet, Lisa (Dean) Shrider, Gordon (Connie) Shepherd, Carawona (Ken) Bartley, and Bruce (Jordan) Shepherd; brother-in-law, Harry Zapp; sister-in-law, Michelle (Mark) Neitz; a special friend, Janet Conrad; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Lee and Nelly Smith.
Twila served as the Roundhead EMS Chief for 36 years and was a member of the Honda Fire Brigade for 20 years. She also served on the rescue squads for Indian Lake, BKP, and the Allen County Paramedics. Twila was a member of the Victory Chapel of Praise. She was a member of the Roundhead Women’s Auxiliary, the Lima-Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #370, and the NRA. Twila was a licensed personal defense instructor, a licensed American Heart Association instructor, and an advisor of the Adventure Crew 6 in Springfield.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, at the Alger Assembly of God Church, 7050 State Route 235, Alger, Ohio with Pastor David Schneer officiating. Burial will be in McDonald-Fairview Cemetery, Kenton.
Visitation will begin 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
