They perform a free show Wednesday night

You heard The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps last Thursday, now the Boston Crusaders invite you to hear their show at 6 p.m. on Wednesday (tomorrow) at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Crusaders are in the final rehearsals for their 11-minute competitive show, which begins Thursday at Ford Field in Detroit. Seven corps will open their summer season in the Motor City. The Boston Crusaders will travel 28,000 miles this summer, performing 36 shows in many states.

ONU senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) has been named a Google Cloud First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America for the 2018 track and field season.

Richards, a Chemistry major, is now a 2-time First Team Academic All-American, earning the honor for the second consecutive season.

The senior capped her career at Ohio Northern with a historic final season that featured all-time Div. III records in the 800-meter run in both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Emily was also a 4-time National Champion in 2018 and a 5-time All-American.

As part of the Ada Public Library summer reading program, Mark Wood puts on a disco magic show. Wood, of Jackson, Ohio, (near Chillicothe), is a popular entertainer for children, going to two or three libraries every day in June and July. There is a lot of comedy and audience participation in his show. “Libraries Rock” is this year’s summer reading program theme. Wood entertained kids at the Ada United Methodist Church on Tuesday. Thomas E. Bowman, age 66 died on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 9:50 a.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

            He was born on April 3, 1952 in Bluffton, Ohio to William Lloyd E. and Hazel Marie (Smith) Bowman who preceded him in death. Thomas had married Barbara Weber, and she is deceased. He later married Phyllis Morrison Strawser who also preceded him in death.

Thomas was a truck driver and attended the Riley Creek Baptist Church as a child. He was a big Pittsburg Steelers fan, and a 1970 graduate of Cory Rawson High School.

County Line Church of the Brethren, 4227 N. Hardin Road, Ada, will hold its Vacation Bible School from Sunday to Thursday, July 22 to 26.

The VBS theme is "Discover your strength in God!" VBS is for youth ages 3 to sixth grade and takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening.

Summer Read events for all ages continue at the Alger Library through July 20. Kids, teens and adults may check out books to earn tickets for a prize drawing at the end of the program. Readers can also earn tickets by writing a brief review of a book checked out and by attending weekly meetings at the library.

 

Children age 3-6 are invited to have fun with Pete the Cat during storytimes  at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays. At 2 p.m.on Tuesdays readers of all ages are invited to attend various activities, such as Painted Rock Art on June 26. A Lego Challenge is held every Thursday at 2 p.m.
