Cancer Society look good feel better events set

The Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center (BVRCC), 15990 Medical Drive South, Findlay, will be hosting three American Cancer Society Look Good Feel Better events throughout the remainder of 2012. The events will be held Aug. 6, Oct. 1 and Dec. 3 from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. in the BVRCC family room.

Look Good Feel Better is an American Cancer Society program that teaches beauty techniques to women who are actively undergoing cancer treatment. This program helps women combat the appearance-related side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. Each participant will receive a free makeup kit worth $250.

Rhythm in Motion Dance Centre will move to 220 N. Main

Rhythm in Motion Dance Centre owner Darcey Schneider announced today that the Centre will open at a new location in Ada: 220 North Main Street. Students and families will be familiar with the location as it’s directly next door to the current and soon-to-be former location at 222 North Main.

"With the new lease freshly signed Wednesday, we are currently entering the space and renovating it for dance purposes, but thankfully this new space does not require much work," she said.

Ada chamber elects Vicki Wolke as vice president; Justin Courtney as board member

Vicki Wolke and Justin Courtney were elected to spots on the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce board during a July 18 breakfast meeting at McIntosh Center, ONU.

Wolke was elected board vice president and Courtney was elected as a member of the board. The two will serve through Dec. 31.

Deb Curlis, chamber president, mentioned several points of interest involving Ada at the breakfast. The chamber seeks ideas for ways to promote Ada, whether it is a garden tour, art walk or taste of the town. Those were suggestions mentioned at the meeting.

Curlis said that the Music on Main held July 14 was a success. It brought lots of people downtown.

Chamber meets for breakfast

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce held a breakfast meeting at the McIntosh Center on July 18. The free breakfast was compliments of  McIntosh Center. Deb Curliss led the meeting's discussion. A report is in a separate story on this page.

AEP says scattered showers all afternoon

AEP provided The Icon with the following weather update for July 19: A cold front will sink into northern Ohio this afternoon.

With a warm and humid air mass in place, the front will help focus
scattered strong thunderstorms. The thunderstorms will develop by early
afternoon in northern Ohio and move slowly southeast through the afternoon and evening.

AEP Ohio's Ohio Valley and Athens Districts are most likely to experience problems with winds gusting to 50 mph in the strongest storms.
Elsewhere across the AEP East Utilities today...scattered thunderstorms
will produce mainly heavy rainfall with few problems expected.
