ONU women's soccer team looses first contest

The No. 20 Ohio Northern women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season to Capital by a 2-1 score Wednesday afternoon at Bernlohr Stadium.

The Polar Bears fall to 6-1-3 on the season and 1-1-0 in the OAC while the Crusaders now stand at 6-5-1, 1-0-1.

Northern got on the board 3:45 into the game when sophomore Sandra Thorarensen took a pass from junior Lauren Brown and beat the goalie.

The goal was fifth of the season for Thorarensen while Brown picked up her fourth assist.

Capital would respond at the 23:12 mark when Livvy Hein fired a shot over ONU goalie Erin Waehner's head and into the net.

Bulldogs pound Panthers 54-14 for win number 6

The Ada Bulldogs traveled to Paulding last Friday to take on the 0-5 Panthers, coming away with a 54-14 victory in their fourth conference win of the season. The win streak continues, as this victory puts the Bulldogs at 6-0 on the season (4-0 NWC) and the Panthers at 0-6 (0-4 NWC).

You've stood at this intersection countless times. It's Main Street Ada, looking south from the "M.E. Church," which means Methodist Episcopal Church. This early 1900s colorized photo reveals many things.

"Cash mob" coming to Ada on Oct. 16 to support Main Street business

A “cash mob” is coming to Ada in October.

The Buy Ada First Committee, an ad hoc group consisting of local business people and residents, will hold the community’s first-ever cash mob on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The location, which is a prominent Main Street business, will be revealed soon.

“The Buy Ada First Committee has worked hard this year to promote the benefits that our community offers,” said Heather Cox, of the committee. “This summer we held the Music on Main that attracted several hundred people downtown for a fun summer family-oriented event.”

Six to be inducted into ONU Athletics Hall of Fame

Six members of the Ohio Northern University athletics family will be inducted into the University's Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, as part of ONU's Homecoming weekend.

They will be inducted on Friday during a banquet in Ohio Northern's McIntosh Center and introduced Saturday before the ONU football game at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
