HS musical highlights weekend events in Ada

May calendar includes swimming pool opening

Ada continues to awaken from its covid no-event slumber. Several traditional spring events are on the May calendar. They range from a high school musical this weekend, and an in-person high school graduation to a swimming pool opening.

Charlie Brown comes to the Ada High School stage as the school presents the musical “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown!”

Performances are in the school auditorium at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 30, and May 1, and at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 2. Masks are required. Contact the school for ticket information.

FOSTORIA - The offense for the visiting Ada softball team came to life as they defeated Fostoria 9-6 in non-conference action Tuesday evening.

"Our bats kind of woke up with 14 hits," said Ada head coach Rebecca Dicke. "Our defense was a little tighter, although we still made a few errors and a couple of mental errors.

"All in all, it was a competitive game. We kept putting the ball in play and hopefully we can continue to do that," she added.

The Lady Bulldog record improved to 9-8 overall with the win that snapped a four-game loss slide. The Redwomen fell to 3-8 with the defeat.

Three Ada High School graduates are playing tennis this spring at Ohio Northern University. From left, Mackenzie Wills, a senior, Zach Beachler, a junior, and Isaac Spar, a freshman. The spring season concludes with the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament at Mason May 7 and 8.

Rebekah Walker and Alyssa Wince recognized by Kenton Elks

April Ada HS teenagers of the month

Rebekah Walker and Alyssa Wince are the Ada High School Elk’s teenagers of the month for April. Both are seniors.

Rebekah Walker
Rebekah is active in several school organizations. These include on the school yearbook staff, Language Club, Film Club and National Honor Society. She has maintained a 4.0 grade point average, qualifying for an academic letter/pin as a junior and senior.

As a junior she had an art piece accepted in the Governor’s Art Show. She also was recognized by Ohio State University for a drawing she created.
