Bearcat girls defeat Ada kickers

Visiting Spencerville beat Ada 3-1 in Northwest Conference girls soccer action Monday evening, October 4, at War Memorial Stadium.

The Lady Bulldog record fell to 2-7-1 overall and 0-2-1 in NWC play after the defeat.

The Bearcat girls improved to 2-11 and 2-3 in NWC action with the victory.

Spencerville led 2-0 at half. Lady Bulldog sophomore Olivia Burkhart scored the lone Ada goal in the second half.

"We started the match slow tonight and it cost us," said Ada head coach A.J. Wahlie. "They did a great job pouncing early on a loose ball in the box, and we have to be better in clearing it out.

"In the second half, we were phenomenal. We were better in possession, simplified the game, and created chances.

"I think we were a little unlucky not to capitalize a few more times, but they did a good job of parking the bus," Wahlie continued. "It's tough to break a team down with 10 girls in the box, and I would love to have that first half back."

The last four Lady Bulldog games had been postponed due to injuries and quarantines. Their previous match was September 20 vs. Columbus Grove.

Ada (0-2 NCOSA) is slated to host Riverdale (6-5-2, 3-0-1 NCOSA)Wednesday, October 6 at 5 p.m.

"We will look forward to Wednesday and go again," said Wahlie.
