Ada girl kickers downed by Grove
Injury-plagued Ada lost 13-1 to visiting Columbus Grove in girls Northwest Conference soccer play Monday evening, September 20, at War Memorial Stadium.
The Ada girls record dropped to 2-6-1 overall after the loss, while their NWC ledger fell to 0-2-1.
The CG girls improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in NWC play with the one-sided victory in the battle of the Bulldogs.
CG led 6-1 at the half. Senior Julia Kamatali scored the lone Bulldog goal. Grove tacked on seven more goals after intermission.
Ada is playing without two senior starters who recently suffered season-ending knee injuries. Timber Blankenship and Hailey Robirds both tore their anterior cruciate ligament.
The fiery Blankenship had severely injured her other knee 21 months ago during basketball season.
Junior Kiah Hefner is also suffering from an ankle tendon injury.
The Ada girls (0-2 NCOSA) host local North Central Ohio Soccer Association foe Cory-Rawson (2-4-1, 1-1 NCOSA) Wednesday, September 22 at 5 p.m.
Ada boys nipped by Lancers
The visiting Ada boys soccer team lost a 2-1 nailbiter at Northwest Conference foe Lincolnview Monday night, September 20.
The Bulldog boys fell to 2-4-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the NWC with the close defeat. The Lancers improved to 3-6 and 2-1 in NWC play after the win.
Junior Brendan Jameson netted the Ada goal. Sophomore keeper Colton Long made four saves in goal.
Ada (0-2 NCOSA) entertains North Central Ohio Soccer Association local rival Cory-Rawson (6-2-1, 0-2 NCOSA) Wednesday night, September 22 as the 7 p.m. nightcap of a girls/boys varsity doubleheader.
