Public Auction of farmland and woods

A public auction has been announced for 7 p.m. on Monday, May 23. It will include 148.8 +/- acres of farmland and woods located in section 19 of Monroe Twp. in Allen County, OH.

The farms are located North of Cairo. The auction location is the Columbus Grove American Legion Hall at 412 Plum St., Columbus Grove, OH 45830. The properties are offered in three individual parcels as well as a combination.

The auctioneer is Siefker Real Estate & Auction Co.

Ada softball seeded sixth in sectional

The Ada High School varsity softball team was seeded sixth at the Elida district Div. IV sectional drawing Sunday.

The Lady Bulldogs (3-11) will host eighth-seeded Arlington (3-10) Monday, May 9 at 5 p.m. in the sectional first round.

The winner advances to visit third seed Leipsic (10-4) Thursday, May 12 in the sectional finals at 5 p.m.

The district semifinals and finals will be at Elida May 17/20.

Wayne Trace was seeded first out of 13 teams. North Baltimore was second, and Bluffton fourth.

ONU president talks about career, future trends

Ohio Northern's Administrative Staff Council hosted an informative talk from ONU President Dan DiBiasio on Thursday, April 21.

DiBiasio is currently the longest tenured Ohio private college or university president and is set to retire at the end of June 2022. He spoke to an attentive audience about the five biggest changes he has witnessed over his 46-year career in higher education, and proposed future trends to watch for in the years to come, before answering audience questions.

Photo-story: Ada's Gossard plays for 'Berg at ONU

Ada High School graduate Maddie Gossard played her final senior games for Heidelberg University in a doubleheader at Ohio Northern University Saturday afternoon, April 30.

The first baseman singled in three at bats in the opener. ONU swept the close twinbill, 6-3 and 2-1 in eight innings.

Heidelberg ends its season 20-16 overall and 9-9 in OAC play, good for fifth place in the 10-team league. Only the top four make it to the OAC tournament, and the 'Berg missed qualification by one win.

ONU clinched the conference regular season title with the sweep, and improved to 21-9 and 16-2 in the OAC.

Bulldog boys nipped at Kenton

The visiting Ada High School baseball team lost a tough 6-4 battle at county rival Kenton in non-conference play Saturday.

Ada fell to 5-10 overall with the defeat. Meanwhile, the Wildcats improved to 3-10 with the win.

Kenton led 3-0 after three innings. Ada pulled within 3-2 with two scores in the top of the fourth frame. The Wildcats responded with three runs in the home fourth to rebuild the advantage to 6-2.

The Bulldogs plated two more runs in the top of the fifth, but could get no closer the rest of the way.
