July 23 Safe Haven purse bingo and raffle items rolling in

Want to donate? Organizers can arrange to pick up items

Safe Haven of Hardin County is hosting their 11th Annual Designer Purse Bingo event on Saturday, July 23 at the Kenton Moose Lodge, 801 W. Lima St.

The organization has begun posting raffle items on their Facebook page and will gladly accept additional donations--and pick them up.

Admission is $35 ($40 at the door) and includes 15 games of Bingo, heavy hors d'oevres, silent auction, 50/50, raffle item, wallet raffle.

Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. with bingo beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Sheriffs' deputies use road spikes to end high speed pursuit on US 68

HARDIN, COUNTY⎼On June 27, 2022, Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2017 Ford Explorer that had been stolen in Trenton, Michigan. When Deputies activated their overhead lights to initiate the stop, the driver fled south on US Rt 68. The pursuit began approximately one mile north of Kenton. The vehicle continued through the city of Kenton and continued south on US Rt 68 into Logan County at high rates of speed.

Polar Bear 5K to benefit Dimensions Award Scholars Program

Get ready to lace up your running or walking shoes. Ohio Northern University’s Office of Alumni Relations and Cross Country team have partnered to offer their third annual, but first in-person, 5K race for the University and for the Ada area community.

The Polar Bear 5K will be held Saturday, July 16 starting at 8:30 a.m.

Twila Kilburn was Roundhead EMS Chief for 36 years

Twila L. Zapp Kilburn, age 65, of Roundhead, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 30, 1956, in Kenton, Ohio to Eugene and Venice (Combs) Shepherd, they preceded her in death.  On June 7, 1975, Twila married Ronald L. Zapp, Sr., he preceded her in death on April 14, 2007.   On September 3, 2010, Twila married Anthony “Tony” Kilburn, and he survives in Roundhead.
