SR 195 to be restricted by drainage work

MCGUFFEY—ODOT District 1 has announced the following construction project for the week of September 6. 

State Route 195 between the village of McGuffey and State Route 309 will be restricted to one lane for drainage work.

Due to the Labor Day holiday, no work is planned for Monday, September 5. All outlined work is weather permitting.

ONU celebrates 50 years of Title IX

On Saturday, Sept. 17, the ONU Volleyball Team will celebrate half a century of women in collegiate sports. Alumni are invited to attend a match at King-Horn Sports Center followed by a reception at The Inn at ONU.

The team will take on Oshkosh at 12:30 p.m. The reception, which will include appetizers and a cash bar, will be held from 3-6 p.m.The featured reception speaker will be Sheila Wallace-Kovalchik, ONU's first women's head volleyball coach.

Dan Neeley, Sr. owned Dan’s Industrial Truck Service

Dan Neeley, Sr., age 88, of Ada, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Lima Memorial Health System. 

He was born on September 25, 1933, in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Oxie and Dovie (Howard) Neeley. On July 22, 1954, Dan married Marjorie Barker and she preceded him in death on May 21, 1999.

Dan is survived by two sons: Dan (Allis) Neeley, Jr. of Harrod, and Jerry Lee (Jennifer) Neeley of Huber Heights; three daughters: Sandy (Marv) Weaver of Lima, Diana (Robert Whitecotton) Smith of Montague, TX, and Delaree (Bruce) Basil of Harrod; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Neeley.

Raymond Charles Mason worked for National Group and was a farmer

Raymond Charles Mason, age 84, of Harrod, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Lima Memorial Health System. 

He was born on April 22, 1938, in Bath Township, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Marie (Wilkins) Mason.  On April 27, 1957, Raymond married Jean I. Taber and she survives in Harrod.

Gary Lynn Conkle was a U.S. Army Veteran

Gary Lynn Conkle, age 76, of Ada and formerly of Harrod, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. at CareCore of Lima.

He was born on June 6, 1946, in Lima, Ohio to the late Charles L. and Margaret A. (Shadley) Conkle.

Gary retired from Lima Correctional and had previously worked for Baldwin Lima Hamilton, and Clark Equipment.  He was a 1964 graduate of Harrod High School.  He was a U.S. Army veteran. 

He was preceded in death by his six siblings: Charles Conkle, Betty Ann Masters, Larry Conkle, Robert Conkle, Shirley Cira, and Linda Evans.
