Bulldog girls basketball loses nailbiter to Gophers

RIDGEWAY - The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team rallied late but lost a 41-39 nailbiter to Hardin County rival Ridgemont on a very cold Monday evening, January 20.

The tough non-conference road defeat dropped the Bulldog record to 2-13. The Gopher girls improved to 4-8 with the seesaw victory.

Ridgemont jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Anna Conley fed Brooklynn Andreasen for the first Bulldog basket on a layup at the 3:18 mark to pull within 6-2.

The Gophers scored two driving field goals to make it 10-2. Andreasen swished a lane shot and Ada edged within 10-6 after the opening stanza.

January 21 council meeting to include water rate proposals

The Village of Ada will hold the January 21 regular council meeting at 6:30 p.m. at 1200 S. Main St. (Community Health Professionals building). The change in venue is to accomodate the public.

The Village will attempt to broadcast this meeting live via Zoom HERE. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting in person.

Hardin County Horse Banquet is February 15

The tenth annual Hardin County Horse Banquet will be held on Saturday, February 15 at the Kenton Moose Family Center. 

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a silent auction to raise funds for the scholarship and food will be served at 6:00 p.m. Banquet tickets this year are $12 for adults and $10 for ages 18 and under. A child’s meal is $6.50 with kid-friendly food.

Reservations need to be made by February 10 by calling the following Hardin County Horse Club Advisors or committee members: Jonda Cole, Wendy Hooker, Ashley Haudenshield, Laura Gossard, Cinda Bame, Ranee Liedel, or Greg Liedel. 

Ada Community Improvement Corp. elects officers on January 22

The Ada Community Improvement Corporation will host a quarterly meeting at noon on Wednesday, January 22 at the Depot.

Officers will be elected for 2025 and Alex Fields will provide the program.

Sandra M. Sibert worked at Wilson Sporting Goods

Sandra M. “Sandy” Sibert, age 51, of Ada, passed away at her residence on Monday, January 20, 2025. 

She was born on May 2, 1973 in Lima, Ohio to Charles and Kathleen (Hall) Bingman.  Her father Charles preceded her in death and her mother Kathleen survives in Findlay.

Also surviving are four sons: Greg (Abby) Treft of Ada, Sav (Jen Norton) Treft of Findlay, Jamie Theis of Findlay and Robbie Sibert of Ada; a daughter, Cristina (Brian) Minger of Ada; two grandchildren: Maura and Kiara; and a brother, Benjamin Bingman. 

Sandy worked at Wilson Sporting Goods of Ada as a sewer. 

It was her wish to be cremated.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
