Ada boys lose baseball finale
By Cort Reynolds
ADA - In a late addition to the schedule, the Ada baseball team lost 11-3 to Pandora-Gilboa on an unseasonably hot Saturday night.
The Bulldogs finished the 2021 campaign 7-15 after the non-league loss. The Rockets ended up 11-13 with the win.
P-G never trailed and plated five runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach and secure the season-ending victory.
The Rockets blasted ahead with two runs in the first inning, then added three more runs in the third frame to advance their lead to 5-0.
The Bulldogs plated two runs in the home fourth inning on a single by Tyler Jameson, closing the gap to three.
The Rockets led 5-2 lead after five innings when they extended the margin to 10-2 on the strength of a five-run sixth inning.
The Bulldogs pushed across a run in the bottom of the sixth, but P-G tacked on one more score in the top of the seventh to provide the final margin.
Ada sophomore starting hurler Roman Snyder took the loss for the Bulldogs. He allowed three earned runs over 2 1/3 innings on five hits as the Ada defense struggled to support him.
Sophomore Spencer Wall collected a single and a double for Ada with one RBI. Junior Jameson singled home the other two runs for the Bulldogs in the fourth frame.
Rocket Eric Gerschutz earned the pitching win as he struck out three Bulldogs. He allowed no runs on one hit over the first three frames.
Tommy Hovest led the P-G offense, driving home two runs on a single, double and triple. Eli Huffman added three singles and two RBI.
Rocket Silas Schmenk hit a pair of singles and stole five bases.
It was the last Bulldog game for seven Ada seniors: Jacob Morgan, Jake Poling, Trent Ennis, Devon Cole, Cody Johnston, Monty Sheldon and Cameron Bober.
