ADA - The host Ada girls soccer team soundly defeated Spencerville 4-1 in a Northwest Conference bout Monday evening at the park.
Ada improved to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in NWC action with their first conference victory. The Lady Bearcats fell to 1-9 and 0-4 in the NWC with the loss.
"I am incredibly proud of how we played tonight," said first-year head coach A. J. Wahlie. "Four goals by four different scorers is the balance that we wanted.
"It was great to see Timber (Blankenship) get back on the scoresheet, but it was a total team effort. That was some of the best football we have played all year, but now the mentaltiy has to be to keep moving forward."
Junior Timber Blankenship scored her first goal of the season after coming back from a knee injury suffered last basketball season during Christmas break.
Kiah Hefner, Lauren Mullins and Karmen Hall netted the other Ada goals.
Bulldog junior keeper Olivia Green amassed 10 saves in goal.
Ada (1-2 NCOA) plays a makeup NCOSA match at Van Buren (4-6-2, 1-2 NCOSA) Tuesday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m. The teams are tied for fourth place in the six-team league.
"The girls are chomping at the bit with Van Buren Tuesday and Riverdale on Wednesday," said Wahlie. "Those are more opportunities to get better."
The Bulldogs then visit Riverdale (6-6-1, 3-1 NCOSA) Wednesday, October 7 for what will be their third match in three nights.
