Ada opens season with sweep of Cory-Rawson

Kirsten Poling topped Ada with 14 assists, five kills, seven digs and two blocks

RAWSON - The Ada volleyball team won a road match in straight sets to start its season off well Saturday morning.

The Lady Bulldogs convincingly beat local non-league rival Cory-Rawson 25-14, 25-13, 25-14 to begin 1-0.

"We started our season off strong and worked well together as a team," said third-year head coach Kyleigh Tabor. "It was a great win for JV as well."

Versatile junior Kirsten Poling topped Ada with 14 assists, five kills, seven digs and two blocks. Senior Megan Light knocked down seven kills, came up with six digs, served three aces and made a pair of blocks.

Senior Miranda Wills also contributed seven kills, seven digs and dealt a career-high nine aces. Sophomore Courtney Sumner hustled up 14 digs, and also knocked down four kills.

Senior Kylie Acheson added three kills and five digs. 

The Ada junior varsity rallied to also win 17-25, 25-12, 25-14.

The Bulldogs were originally scheduled to also play Waynesfield in a tri-match Saturday at Cory, but that match was postponed to later in the season. 

Ada (1-0) is slated to host Hardin County foe Kenton Tuesday, Aug. 25 in the home opener. The freshman team will start the tripleheader at 5 p.m., followed by the JV match and then the varsity contest.
