Ada diamond sports sign up for baseball, softball and T-Ball have been extended.

Clocks move ahead one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022. Daylight-saving time lasts 34 weeks in the U.S., until the beginning of November. We lose an hour now but gain daylight in the evenings.

Understanding the evolution of service dogs

Institute for Civics and Public Policy (ICAPP) at Ohio Northern University fellows Kennedy Aikey and Hailey Trimpey recently examined the growing use of service dogs in society. Trimpey is a student volunteer who works to train service dogs at Ohio Northern. It is not uncommon to find many students who are serving as trainers on ONU’s campus. The student authors find that the development of new skills and training has allowed for these four-legged friends to become a lifeline for many more people in need.

Bike safety tips prompt a reality check

As an enthusiastic if fairly timid cyclist, I was interested to find a list of bicycle safety safety tips in the Icon’s inbox from the Allen County Health Department. With my “step through” ladies’ frame and wicker basket, I probably resemble Miss Gulch from the Wizard of Oz, minus the bright-eyed terrier captive. In a town the size of Ada, a bike is a great transportation option. In the days of $4/gallon gas, it’s looking even better.

Chamber meeting on March 16

The next Ada Area Chamber of Commerce membership meeting is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16 at the Ada Public Library, 320 N. Main.

A Football Festival meeting will follow the membership meeting.
