April 18 free lead tests for children; Healthy Homes Awareness Month

The Kenton Hardin Health Department is joining the Ohio Department of Health to promote lead poisoning prevention efforts. In celebration of Healthy Homes Awareness Month, the Kenton Hardin Health Department is offering free lead tests for children under 6 by appointment on April 18. For more information, contact Kenton Hardin Health Department at 419-673-6230 and speak with a nurse.

Riders will loop Ada on July 16

The Ada Aera Chamber of Commerce will not meet in the morning this month. Members will Mix and Mingle at The Cask Room, 127 S. Main, from 4:30-6 p.m. on April 20.

Neal Young hired as new ONU basketball coach

Neal Young has been named the head men's basketball coach at Ohio Northern. Young comes to ONU after winning three USA South titles in five seasons as head coach at Covenant (Ga.) College.

"I would like to thank Dr. DiBiasio and Tom Simmons as well as the rest of the hiring committee for this incredible opportunity," Young said. "My family and I are excited to get to Ada and begin the process of integrating ourselves into this community and investing in Polar Bear basketball."

He guided the Scots to a 79-47 record (a winning percentage of .627) and USA South titles in 2019, 2020 and 2022.

Poetry readings to be hosted by Alger Public Library

Two programs by Jessica Weyer Bentley

Author and poet Jessica Weyer Bentley will visit the Alger Public Library, 100 Wagner St., Alger, on April 12 and 13 for two poetry readings. The first reading will be for adults and the second will be for children.
