Blanchard Valley Health System prohibits cloth masks in all facilities

Blanchard Valley Health System is prohibiting cloth masks in all facilities and locations. BVHS will require patients and visitors to wear a surgical or an N-95 mask, which will be provided upon entry.

“Mitigation strategies for COVID-19 include face coverings and N-95 and surgical masks are the most effective. When outside of BVHS, we encourage our community to also wear masks whenever appropriate. In these situations, cloth masks are better than no face covering,” explained Dr. Renee Smith, chief medical officer at BVHS. “With the patient population in our facilities, we require the most effective measures. Therefore, cloth masks are prohibited.”

Late Tiger rally upsets Bulldog boys

By Cort Reynolds

The Ada High School boys basketball team led almost the entire game against Waynesfield-Goshen in the third-place game of the Border Battle basketball tournament Thursday afternoon, December 30, at Allen East.

But Tiger Za'mere Daniels hit two tie-breaking foul shots with seven seconds left, then blocked a last-second three-pointer to give W-G a 59-57 comeback victory.

"It was certainly our most disappointing loss," said first-year Ada head coach Vince Halliday. "That was a game we should have won. "W-G wanted it more in those last two minutes and made the necessary plays to get it done.

A short-handed Ada High School girls basketball team fought hard but lost a 46-38 battle to talented backyard rival Allen East in the title game of the fourth annual Border Battle tournament Thursday evening, December 30, at Harrod.

AE took control with a 14-1 run midway through the first half, then held off a game Lady Bulldog rally. Ada edged within four just before halftime and was down just six with 71 seconds left, but could get no closer.

The hard-luck Lady Bulldogs fell to 3-9 with the defeat, while the young and promising Lady Mustangs improved to 7-4 with the championship victory.
