AHS girls basketball bests Perry by 10

Courtney Sumner poured in a season-high 26 points

The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team defeated Perry 56-46 in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon, December 3.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-3 overall with the win. The Commodore girls fell to 2-2 with the defeat.

Nominees sought for Ada Public Library board

The Ada Public Library Board of Trustees seeks nominations for individuals to fill an open position on the board. Self-nominations as well as nominations of others are welcome.

Bulldogs dive into competition December 10

The Ada varsity swim team boasts two standout state qualifiers and five experienced letter winners back this winter for a new coach.

Former Ada district 500 freestyler swimmer Ashley Robey takes over the head coaching reins, with help from her mother Angela and fellow assistant coach Lorna Spar. 

A total of 11 swimmers, including seven girls and four boys, comprise the team roster this winter. 

June Ann Coburn obituary

June Ann Coburn, age 77, of Ada, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at Vancrest of Ada. 

She was born in Bluffton, Ohio on June 15, 1945, to the late Carl and Bucilla (Amstutz) Simon. June married James Coburn on March 4, 1967, he preceded her in death on September 14, 2014.

June was a member of the Ada First Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons: Michael Coburn of Ocala, FL and Lee Coburn of Baton Rouge, LA; a daughter, Cindy (Jerry) Glover of Denham Strings, LA; four grandchildren; a brother, Karl (Gloria) Simon of Leipsic; and three sisters: Doris (Lester) Miller of Kalispell, MT, Ruby Brown of Findlay, and Rose (Kevin) Waugh of Alger.

Norman Dean Fleming was president and CEO of Home Savings & Loan

Norman Dean Fleming, age 74, of Ada, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born in Bluffton, Ohio on January 3, 1948, to the late Ralph Samuel and Edna Marie (Welty) Fleming. On November 4, 1978, Norman married Deryl D. (VanAtta) Everhart, and she survives in Ada.

AHS boys basketball delivers lopsided win vs McComb

Ada boys start 3-0

Playing at home, the Ada High School boys basketball team soundly defeated McComb 66-45 in their non-conference home opener Saturday night, December 3, to continue a strong start.

Ada improved to 3-0, their best record out of the gate in over a decade, with the one-sided win. The Panthers dropped to 1-1 with the decisive defeat.

Bulldog senior Carter Conley drove and shot his way to a game-high 21 points to pace the rout. Sixth man Jayden Bankston contributed 16 big points off the bench.
