AHS boys basketball falls to AE in Border Battle final

The Ada High School boys basketball team lost to backyard rival Allen East 56-40 in the title game of the fifth annual boys Border Battle tournament at Waynesfield Friday night, December 30.

The Bulldogs never truly got on track, as they trailed most of the game. AE displayed solid guard play and shooting to win the tourney title.

Ada fell to 5-4 after the defeat snapped their two-game win streak. Meanwhile, AE improved to 4-3 with the win. The Mustang girls and boys swept the BB crowns. 

The Bulldogs trailed by just six at the half, but got outscored 29-19 after intermission.

UPDATE: Highway Patrol announces capture of dangerous escapee

UPDATE: January 2, 2023

Last night at 11:34 p.m., Jacob Davidson was taken into custody near Chapmanville, West Virginia. 

COLUMBUS–The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently seeking the public’s assistance in locating a dangerous escapee.

On December 29, Jacob D. Davidson escaped from Twin Valley Behavioral Heath Hospital located at 2200 West Broad Street in Columbus. Davidson, 38, is described as a white male with blue eyes, 5’11” tall and 210 pounds. He was last seen with brown hair and a full beard.

AHS girls basketball defeats rival Rams to take 3rd at Border Battle

The Ada High School girls basketball team rode a big second quarter to convincingly defeat backyard rival Upper Scioto Valley 55-30 in the third-place game of the fifth annual girls basketball Border Battle early Friday afternoon, December 30, at Waynesfield.

Ada improved to 5-6 with the win, while USV fell to 3-8 with the defeat.

The Bulldogs outscored USV 37-15 over the middle two quarters to pave the way to the win.

Team advances to title game vs. AE

WAYNESFIELD–The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team scored in the final seconds to edge tournament host Waynesfield-Goshen 51-50 in the semifinals of the fifth Border Battle tournament Thursday night.

The Bulldogs rallied from an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter to lead 49-48.

Then Tiger junior guard Drew Breitigam scored on a drive in the final minute to give W-G the lead back, 50-49.

But Bulldog senior Carter Conley answered by making a layup for the last of his 26 points with 20 seconds remaining to pull out the victory.
