Kathryn J. "Jeanie" Traucht was employed at Wilson's for over 40 years

Kathryn J. "Jeanie" Traucht, 73, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at 2:53 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

She was born on March 28, 1940, in Jenera, Ohio to Orville and Kathryn (Rader) Traucht, and they preceded her in death.

She was a lacer and packer at Wilson Sporting Goods, Ada, for over 40 years. She was a member of the former Genesis Fellowship Church in Ada.

Surviving are one daughter: Misti Dotson of Harrod; one grandson: Cody Dotson of Waynesfield; two sisters, Sara (Bob) Michael of Lima, and Carol Sue (Rick) Seltzer of Bradley, Fla.; and her close friend and caregiver, Sally Wilcox.

ONU professor’s research on platypus published

Stephen Kolomyjec, visiting assistant professor of cell and molecular biology at Ohio Northern University, co-authored an article that has been published in the Australian Journal of Zoology.

Titled “Regional population structuring and conservation units in the platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus),” the article was authored by Kolomyjec in collaboration with Tom Grant of the University of New South Wales, Chris Johnson of the University of Tasmania, and David Blair of James Cook University.

Ada HS band concludes competition run at Indianapolis

The Ada Marching Bulldogs traveled to Indianapolis on Nov. 14 to compete in Grand National Competition. The event, hosted by Bands of America took place at Lucas Oil Field, the home of the Indianapolis Colts. Over 90 bands from all the over the country gathered to compete.

Ada competed Thursday evening and had a great performance. With 16 instrumentalists, six members of the percussion pit/drum line, and six auxiliary color guard members, Ada was one of the smallest bands in the competition. Several of the bands had more members than the entire enrollment of grades 10-12 at Ada High School. 

18 men's and women's ONU basketball games televised this seaosn

Ohio Northern University has partnered with NKTelco, Inc., to televise and web stream live 18 men's and women's basketball games during the 2013-14 season.  The games will be broadcast live on NKTelco, Inc, Channel 3 and WOSN in Lima.

All 11 of ONU's men's home games and seven women's home games will be broadcast live on NKTelco and will be web streamed on NKTelco.net  and ONUSports.com.

Pastor Jack Duffy tells Ada Kiwanis about the food pantry

President Heather Cox called the weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at noon on Tuesday November 19th at McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University, Ada.

The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress.
Pastor Jack Duffy was welcomed as a guest.

In business:
-Secretary Brian reported that the club’s records have been updated. Anyone needing access to the club records should contact him.

-The satellite club met last week. They discussed/reviewed the regular minutes from last Tuesday and the grant for the board project. They will meet tomorrow at 6 PM at New China.
