Village of Ada awarded $750K in CDBG neighborhood revitalization funds

The State of Ohio has announced that more than $13.8 million in grants will be awarded to complete critical infrastructure and neighborhood improvement projects–including a $750K CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) neighborhood revitalization grant to the Village of Ada.

At the Tuesday, September 19 council meeting, the Ada mayor, council members and administrator discussed the result. Administrator Jamie Hall said that the response and help received in the application development process was “tremendous” including public meetings, surveys and other feedback between October 2022 and May 2023.

Public meetings re SR 81-Thayer Road intersection improvement

Feasibility of constructing a roundabout under consideration

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1, invites the public to a meeting regarding a proposed project to improve the safety of the State Road 81 and Thayer Road intersection in Lima, Allen County.

Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
Union Chapel Missionary Church, 4869 Ada Road, Lima.

Attendees need only attend one of the two sessions. The same information will be presented at each meeting.

Rail Safety Week: Be alert at rail crossings

Every three hours, a person or vehicle is hit by a train in the United States. Crashes at rail crossings can be more severe than other collisions and are more likely to result in death and injury.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) and the Ohio Department of Transportation are promoting Rail Safety Week, September 18-24. The week is dedicated as a reminder to Ohioans to practice safety around all rail crossings. This year’s awareness campaign focuses on the safety of pedestrians, joggers and bicyclists.

Ada girls volleyball loses Bulldog battle at Grove

The Ada High School volleyball team lost a three-set match at Columbus Grove in Northwest Conference action Tuesday evening, September 19.

CG won the annual Bulldog spike battle by a 25-18, 25-23, 25-22 count.
