Women's Basketball has 71-54 victory
(January 24) ADA__Junior Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) tallied 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 71-54 victory over Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday night.

Men's Basketball falls at Otterbein 65-53
(January 24) WESTERVILLE__Sophomore Will Miller (Ottoville) scored 15 points, but the Ohio Northern men's basketball team had a cold-shooting night and dropped a 65-53 decision at Otterbein on Wednesday.

Brynn Serbin leads Women's Basketball in 72-43 win
(January 27) ADA__Fifth-year senior All-American Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) scored 22 points to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a  72-43 victory over Mount Union on Saturday afternoon.

Ada matmen 15th at Sally George Invite; McClain 4th at 150

The Bulldog grapplers host the Ada Invitational Saturday, February 3 at 10 a.m.

MARION__The Ada High School wrestling team competed at the prestigious 21-team Marion Pleasant Sally George Invitational Friday and Saturday, January 26-27.

Elgin won the event with 174.5 points, followed by Ontario (160) and host Pleasant (158).

Ada finished 15th with 34.5 points, just behind Whitehall-Yearling (38) and ahead of Jonathan Alder (31.5).

Weekend Doctor: Wellness exams for children

For parents in today’s world, there are numerous daily tasks to juggle, from going to work to preparing meals and driving kids to and from practices. Sometimes, if we do not have any concerns as parents about our child’s development, we may not realize the importance of making time for their well-child exams. 

While it may feel like there are not enough hours in a day, it is important to keep well-child exams as recommended. The American Academy of Pediatrics developed a well-child exam schedule, which allows patients to be seen at strategic ages to ensure growth and development milestones are on track. 

A suggested schedule of well-child visits, beginning from a child’s birth, typically includes the following ages:

Northwest Ohio – Wildlife District Two 
In October, State Wildlife Officer Jason Porinchok, assigned to Putnam County, attended the 2023 Putnam County annual Pheasants Forever Black Swamp Chapter Youth Pheasant Hunt. The Black Swamp Chapter of Pheasants Forever partnered with Kalida Fish and Game Club to offer the hunt. Hunters aged 17 and under had the opportunity to hunt ring-necked pheasants with bird dogs and their handlers. More than 50 youth from Putnam County attended, and most were successful in harvesting a bird.

Tickets for the February 29 Ada Distinguished Awards Night are now available for purchase online. The event will celebrate the Ada Distinguished Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Business for 2023 and Volunteer of the Year. 

PHOTO St. Mark community meal served on January 31

St. Mark Lutheran--located at the corner of Lincoln and Johnson Streets in
Ada--will serve a free community meal from 5 to 6:30 (or whenever they run out) on Wednesday, January 31. The menu is scalloped potatoes with ham, green beans, rruit and cookie.  This meal is free and opened to the public. Dine in, carry out or drive up for curbside service.
