Ada loses hard fought battle to St. Henry in regional semifinal round

Faced with bad weather and a large point deficit to overcome late in the game, Ada fought a stiff battle against the St. Henry Redskins of the Midwest Athletic Conference, but came up just short of victory with a final score of 40-35 last Friday night at Lima Stadium.

Betty Jo Sherman, 1934-2012

Betty Jo Sherman, 78, died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at 6:10 p.m. at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1934 in Hardin County, Ohio to Carl B. and Rhea (McElroy) Gardner who preceded her in death.

She first married Grover Boutwell and they were divorced and he preceded her in death in 1975. She then married Billy L. Sherman on June 13, 1973 and he survives in Ada.

Betty was a homemaker. She was a member of the Living Faith Ministries in Mendon, Ohio. She was a life member of the Ada VFW Post #9381 Women's Auxiliary and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post #3003 Ladies Auxiliary of Findlay.

Alison Steinbrunner named USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Athlete of the Year

Senior Alison Steinbrunner has been named USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Athlete of the Year in voting conducted by Division III coaches.

On Saturday, she won the she won the Great Lakes Regional Women's Cross Country Championships in 21:00.

Steinbrunner's time broke her own school record and was 37 seconds faster than any other runner in the field.

The No. 30 Polar Bears finished seventh out of 33 teams with 247 points.
Stenibrunner also won the OAC Championship y 41 seconds and claimed the UW-Oshkosh Brook's Invite title as well.

Ada Kiwanis Club prepares for Nov. 15 spaghetti supper

President Myrna McCurdy called the 7th meeting (Nov. 13) of the 2012-2013 Ada Kiwanis year to order at 12:00 noon at McIntosh Center, ONU.

The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress.

Guests introduced: Katie Lorson and Allie Puntel, from ONU Circle K.

Katie was wished a happy birthday in song. (Nov. 13th)
Tom Kier announced that he is now a great uncle.

ONU Holiday Spectacular opens Thursday at Freed Center

The Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the ONU Holiday Spectacular. The show is underwritten in part by the DeBow and Catherine Freed Endowment for the Arts and Kewpee Hamburger.

This holiday show has become a tradition to many patrons and area residents over the years. It gets everyone in the holiday spirit with its famous characters and familiar tunes. This year will introduce a few new characters and some new holiday favorites. Don’t miss the opportunity to join in the fun.
