Dumbaugh and Snyder lead No. 12 women's basketball in 62-45 victory over No. 13 Mount Union

Senior Dumbaugh scored a game high 17 points and senior Joanna Snyder added 16 as the No. 12 Ohio Northern women's basketball team defeated No. 13 Mount Union on Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.

With the win the Polar Bears improve to 12-1 overall and 6-0 in the OAC, while the Purple Raiders fall to 10-3 and 4-2 in the OAC play.

Junior Cenzie Yoder added 11 points for Northern and senior Katie Mengos pulled down a career high 12 rebounds.

Mount Union started things off quickly, building a 12-4 lead within the first five minutes, and pushed their lead to 19-10 with 11:03 left in the first half.

Pennington and Royal lead men's basketball past Mount Union

Sophomore Lucas Pennington scored 21 points and junior Dominique Royal added a career high 18 as the Ohio Northern men's basketball team defeated Mount Union by a 69-63 score at the MAAC.

With the win, the Polar Bears move to 7-6 overall and 3-3 in the OAC, while the Purple Raiders fall to 5-8, 3-3.

Royal was 9-of-15 from the field while Pennington was 6-of-12. Both players also pulled down seven rebounds apiece.

ONU used an early 7-0 run to open up a 14-11 lead with just over 11 minutes left in the first half.

The Polar Bear expanded their lead to 30-23 with 2:43 left on a jumper by Royal.

Michael Pawlitz and Cody Lovejoy record pins to lead No. 19 Wrestling to 31-7 victory at Washington & Lee

Senior Michael Pawlitz and sophomore Cody Lovejoy each recorded pins as the No. 19 Ohio Northern wrestling team defeated Washington & Lee (Va.) by a 31 score on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Northern improves to 6-1 on the season, while the Generals fall to 0-6.

Pawlitz, ranked No. 9 at 197 pounds, recorded his team leading eighth pin on the season in 29 seconds.

Lovejoy notched his pin in 1:01 at 285 pounds.

Senior Jeremy Jones got the Polar Bears on the board first with a 6-0 victory at 133 pounds.

At 141 pounds, junior Cody Harting scored a 7-0 decision over Tyler Kaelin to put ONU up 6-0.

Oscar Williams was member of Ada Freewill Baptist Church

Earnest "Oscar" Williams, 83, formerly of Lafayette, died at 5:21 a.m. Jan. 3, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Merdie B. and Dora Adams Williams, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 14, 1948, he married Martha Neeley, who survives in Lima.

Mr. Williams had been a machine operator at Clark Equipment Co., Lima, for 31 years. He retired in 1994 as a custodian from Allen East Elementary School, after 10 years. He was a member of High Street Freewill Baptist Church, Ada.
