Alison Steinbrunner and Vicki Moga qualify for NCAA III indoor track & field championships

Seniors Alison Steinbrunner and Vicki Moga have qualified for the NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Naperville, Illinois.

Competition is on Friday and Saturday.

Steinbrunner has posted the fifth fastest time in the nation this season in the 5,000 run and will compete at 3:45 pm CST on Saturday.

She was an All-American last season in 5,000 run where she finished fourth, earning All-America status.

Moga will take part in the high jump on Saturday at 11 am CST.

Moga has cleared 1.69 meters this season, which is currently tied for fourth in the country.

Dumbaugh breaks all-time scoring record, but No. 3 women's basketball falls to No. 2 Hope (Mich.)

Senior Morgan Dumbaugh became the all-time career leader in points scored as the No. 3 Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell to No. 2 Hope (Mich.) 63-48 in the NCAA III Tournament Second Round on Saturday evening at DeVos Fieldhouse.

The Polar Bears conclude their season at 27-2, while the Flying Dutch improve to 28-1.

Dumbaugh sank a three pointer at the 4:01 mark of the first half for her 1,229th point, which is now the most in ONU women's basketball history.

She finished the game with a team high 16 points and a career high nine rebounds.

She concludes her career with 1,242 points.

Women's Tennis defeats Occidental (Calif.) and Cal Tech in first two matches of spring trip

The Ohio Northern women's tennis team opened its spring trip with an 8-1 victory over Occidental (Calif.) and 6-3 win over Cal Tech on Sunday.

The Polar Bears now stand at 8-1 on the season, while Occidental is 1-3 and Cal Tech falls to 3-2.

Against Occidental, Northern swept all three doubles courts by identical 8-2 scores.

Freshman Rachael Miller and junior Michelle Tuma won at No. 1 doubles, sophomores Kristin Cellentani and Brittany Miller won at the No. 2 position and freshman Meghan Letizia and junior Carly Olmstead were victorious at No. 3 doubles.

Four Polar Bears earn bids to compete at NCAA III men's swimming & diving championships

Senior Marc Anderson, junior Jordan Breitigam, junior Christian Garlock and senior Drew Keriazes will represent Ohio Northern at the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championships March 20-23 at the Conroe Natatorium in Shenandoah, Tex.

The four men qualified in the 200 medley relay, where they rank 11th nationally with an ONU record time of 1:31.05.

Breitigam also qualified in three individual events.

He is seeded seventh in the 200 fly in 1:49.08, is 12th in the 200 I.M. in 1:51.20 and 18th in the 100 fly in :49.24.

All three times are ONU records.

It's on the way

A complex winter storm will impact AEP's Eastern Utilities Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a news release from AEP. A light mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain (less than 0.10" ice) will reach I&M Power tonight, followed by steady wet snow on Tuesday and Tuesday night for I&M Power and northern Ohio.  Expect 4-6 inches of snow accumulations from South Bend and Ft. Wayne to Lima-Mansfield-Canton-Wheeling.

Ada Public Library celebrates Dr. Seuss

Theodore Guisse, or Dr. Seuss, would have been 109 years old today.  Come celebrate the man who wrote Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat on Monday, March 4 at 3:30 p.m. at the Ada Public Library.

According to Amanda Bennett, Director, the event is for ages four to 104 and there will be "Seussical" snacks, crafts and games.
