The September 18 meeting of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce featured a presentation from Ohio House candidate Sheila Coressel (Democrat), as well as announcements from the chamber and members in attendance.

Boil Water alert lifted; 2024 Ada paving project has begun, September 24

UPDATE Village of Ada Notice: Boil Alert Lifted: The 9/22/24 boil alert for the 600 & 700 block of North Main Street has been lifted effective 2:14 p.m. on 9/24/24.

The Village of Ada has announced that the 2024 Paving Project has started on September 24 and that the Bluffton Paving milling crew is currently working on Oak Street.

The Village notes, "The plan is to continue after Oak Street and head north to mill South Park, Lehr Avenue, Ballard, and then to North Johnson. This process will take two days." The roads are expected to be paved on Thursday and Friday.

September 25 Community Meal at St. Mark Lutheran

Ordering 9 or more meals? Please call in advance.

St. Mark Lutheran will be serving its Free Community Meal on Wednesday, September 25, from 5 to 6:30 (or whenever they run out). 

This month's menu consists of a shredded chicken sandwich, potato salad, fruit, and cookie.  The meal is free and open to the public. You may dine in, carry out, or drive up for curbside service.

Due to the large number of meals served in the last three months, the church now requires all orders for 9 or more meals to be placed by noon on Monday. Please leave a message with the number of meals and your name.

US News ranks ONU as best value in Midwest

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Ohio Northern University as offering the best value of any college in the Midwest for 2025.

In the publication’s 2025 Best Regional Colleges Midwest list, ONU moved up two places from 2024. The best value rankings are based on a school's academic quality and the net cost of attendance. 

In overall rankings, the Ohio Northern is #2 in the Midwest and #1 in Ohio.

Ada volleyball falls to 1st-place Vikings

ADA – The Ada High School volleyball team lost in straight sets to visiting league leader Leipsic in a Blanchard Valley Conference match Monday evening, September 23.

The Bulldogs fell to 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the BVC after the 25-21, 25-11, 25-15 defeat.  

Leipsic improved to 14-0 overall and 6-0 in BVC play with the win. Liberty-Benton is second in the BVC at 5-0 as the only other league unbeaten.

“We played really hard,” said Ada head coach Kyleigh Woodruff. “I thought our defense played well, we had some great digs. Each set we had one bad run we could not get out of.”

Bulldog boys soccer blanks Pioneers

LIMA - The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team defeated non-conference foe Lima Temple Christian 2-0 in a road match Monday evening, September 23.

Ada improved to 8-4 overall with the shutout victory. The Pioneers dropped to 2-6-2 after the defeat.

Bulldog senior Nathan Williams and sophomore Andrew Allen netted the Ada goals.

The contest was scoreless in the first half and for much of the second half before the Bulldogs broke through.
