Witte coach of the year; Hostetler Libero of the year

ONU gains top Ohio Athletic Conference volleyball honors

Senior McKenna Hostetler (Plain City/Alder) was named Ohio Athletic Conference Libero of the Year, headlining a list of five Ohio Northern volleyball players to receive All-Conference accolades, in voting conducted by the league's 10 coaches.

Senior All-American Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) joined Hostetler as First Team honorees.

Seniors McKenna Jordan (Toledo/St. Ursula) and Sydney Bapst (Grove City) and freshman Madison Kern (Loveland/Mount Notre Dame) received Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.

Head coach Kate Witte was selected as OAC Coach of the Year.

Hostetler, a first-time All-OAC selection, becomes the third libero in ONU history to be named OAC Libero of the Year.

She leads the league with 670 digs and 5.63 digs/set. Her 670 digs this season are the third-most by an ONU senior in a single-season.

Hostetler's 2,085 career digs are the fourth-most in school history.

She has averaged 4.51 digs/set in her career and has 128 career service aces.

Huppert, a middle hitter, earns her third straight First Team All-OAC selection and fourth All-Conference honor.

She ranks fourth in the OAC with 331 kills, seventh with 3.09 kills/set, third with 110 total blocks, and second with blocks/set.

Huppert, who has earned AVCA All-American accolades the past two seasons, has 1,356 career kills for the sixth-best total in ONU history.

Her .338 hitting percentage ranks third in school history.

Additionally, her 396 career total blocks are fifth in school history and ranks third with 124 career block solos.

Bapst, an outside hitter, becomes a first-time All-OAC honoree.

She has 212 kills, 34 total blocks, and 84 digs in 2019. Her .225 hitting percentage is a career-best.

Bapst had 14, 12, and 14 kills in the OAC Tournament matches, including the OAC Tournament finals-clinching kill.

She has amassed 815 kills on a .180 hitting percentage, 104 total blocks, and 323 digs in her career.

Jordan, the 2016 OAC Freshman of the Year, earns All-OAC honors for the fourth straight season.

The outside hitter has 252 kills, 24 total blocks, and 112 digs this season.

Jordan's 1,176 career kills are tied for ninth in school history.

Additionally, Jordan has a career hitting percentage of .212 and has 91 career total blocks and 625 career digs.

Kern, a middle hitter, is one of three freshman to earn All-OAC honors this season.

Her league-leading 38 block solos is tied for the most by a freshman in school history and her league-leading 116 total blocks are third by a freshman in ONU history.

Kern has 211 kills on a .255 rate this season.

Witte won her 19th regular season OAC championship and 21st OAC Tournament title in her 29th season.

2019 marks the seventh time Witte has been named OAC Coach of the year. Witte is the school's all-time wins leader at 741-240, a winning percentage of .755.

She announced her retirement following the 2019 season.
