The Women's Golf Coaches Association released its All-American Scholars for the 2018-19 season. A trio of Ohio Northern student-athletes earned the distinction.
Junior Taylor Daniel (Columbia City, Ind.), senior Alaina Mikolajewski (Piqua) and senior Caitlin Silva (Hilliard/Bradley) made the list, which features golfers who have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. A total of 1,096 individuals were recognized across all divisions of NCAA athletics this year.
Silva ranked second on ONU with a stroke average of 88.1. She placed inside the top 10 in five tournaments.
Daniel checked in at No. 4 on the team with a stroke average of 93.6 and logged three top-15 finishes.
Mikolajewski laid claim to a 98.9 scoring average and recorded a fifth-place finish at the Polar Bear Classic.
The Polar Bears begin their season hosting the ONU Fall Invitational Aug. 31.
The Golf Coaches Association of America released its 2018-19 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar honorees. Ohio Northern senior Joshua Turich (Centerville) was recognized for his performance on and off the course.
To be eligible for the honor at the Division III level, the student-athlete must be a junior or senior, participate in at least 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, possess a stroke-average under 79 and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. A record number of 540 athletes across all divisions were recognized this year.
In 17 rounds played this season, Turich laid claim to a 77.4 stroke average, which ranked him 13th all-tiime in school history. He won Medalist Honors at the Polar Bear Classic and the dual match with Tiffin, and placed inside the top 15 at three other tournaments.
In his career, Turich boasted a 79.7 stroke average.
