HARTVILLE — Senior All-American Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) became the first runner in Ohio Northern history to earn back-to-back Ohio Athletic Conference individual titles as the ONU men's cross country team finished third at the 2018 OAC Championships on Saturday afternoon at Sable Creek Golf Course.

HARTVILLE — Freshmen Elizabeth Whitmore (Mason) and Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Munroe Falls) earned All-Conference honors as the Ohio Northern women's cross country team placed fifth at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Sable Creek Golf Course on Saturday.

Whitmore finished 13th of 119 finishers. Pitcovich was close behind, taking 18th.

ONU then had a tight pack to round out the team's scorers.

The time will change on Sunday, Nov. 4. Fall back one hour. Ohioans will get an extra hour of sleep.

The Ada High School Color Guard won the award for Best Color Guard regardless of class with a score of 91 at the Tri-Valley Classic in Dresden, Ohio, on Oct. 20.They are the only color guard at any of the contests that they have competed in to earn a score of greater than 90.  The band won high marks, as well. 

The band and color guard also received awards for best color guard, best general effect, and best visual effects in Class C. The band earned received straight I's, being rated superior by all eight judges. 

On a wet, late-October afternoon, the No. 23-ranked Ohio Northern women's soccer program dropped its regular season finale 2-1 to Ohio Athletic Conference foe Mount Union on Saturday at Kerscher Stadium.

The Polar Bears move to 13-3-1 overall and 7-1-1 in league play. With their conference record, Northern has claimed the two seed in the 2018 OAC Tournament, a first round bye, and semifinal round hosting rights in their first postseason contest next Thursday. Northern can also claim a share of the OAC Regular Season title with an Otterbein loss Saturday evening when they play Capital at 7 p.m.

ALLIANCE — The Ohio Northern men's soccer program dropped its 2018 regular season finale 2-0 to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Mount Union in Alliance Saturday.

 

The Polar Bears complete the regular season with an 11-7-1 overall record and a 4-5-0 mark in conference action. With their league mark, Northern has qualified for the 2018 OAC Tournament and will play on the road in the quarterfinal round next Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Purple Raiders end their regular season campaign with a 12-3-1 overall mark and a 5-3-1 record against the conference loop.
