The Ohio Northern men's soccer team would need just one goal from freshman midfielder Levi King (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) to upend Ohio Athletic Conference foe Otterbein 1-0 Tuesday evening in the OAC Tournament quarterfinal round at Memorial Stadium in Westerville.

With the first-round triumph, the Polar Bears improve to 12-7-1 overall and will travel to top-seeded Capital for the semifinals Thursday evening at 7 pm at Bernlohr Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals conclude their conference tournament run with an 8-8 overall record.

The No. 20-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team swept Marietta 25-11, 25-16, 25-11 in the quarterfinals of the OAC tourney on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

 

The top-seeded Polar Bears (20-7 overall) advance to the semifinals of the tourney for the 34th time in the 35-year history of the event.

The Polar Bears will return to action Thursday when they entertain either fourth-seeded Baldwin Wallace or fifth-seeded Heidelberg in a 7 p.m. contest in the semifinals at the ONU Sports Center.

There will be an open house for Connie Fleming’s 80th birthday on Saturday. The event will be held from 2-4 p.m. at Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St. All are welcome.

John “Bud” Mankey, Jr., age 97, died on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Vancrest of Ada.

          He was born on April 10, 1921 in Ada, Ohio to the late John M. and Blanche Daisy (Street) Mankey.   On September 27, 1946 John married Janice Frederick and she died on November 22, 1989.

          John retired from Superior Coach, Lima.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during WWII.  He was a member of the Lima VFW Post #1275, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #428 of Kenton, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the AMVets.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
