Women's Tennis competes at ITA Central Region Championship

The Ohio Northern women's tennis team competed at the ITA Central Region Championships at Washington University (Mo.) over the weekend.

Sophomore Kristin Cellentani advanced to the round of 32 in the main singles draw before falling to No. 4 seed Linden Li of Chicago by a 6-3, 7-5 score.

Freshman Christina Corbean and Taryn Strombeck won the consolation doubles.

Cellentani teamed with sophomore Brittany Miller to make the consolation doubles semifinals.

Senior Christie Gales and sophomore Michelle Tuma also made it the consolation doubles semifinals.

Community Economic Development Center presentS entrepreneur workshop: ‘How to Connect, Position Yourself and Create Success’

The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University opens its entrepreneurship workshop series in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The workshop will be preceded by a networking event at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will follow the networking event and conclude at 7 p.m.

The topic of the workshop will be “How to Connect, Position Yourself and Create Success” with Matt Brown and Jason Duff. This event is free and open to the public.

College of Law to dedicate renovated rare book room

The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law will formally dedicate the David C. Crago Rare Book and Special Collections Room on Friday, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m. The Taggart Law Library renovated its rare book and special collections room during summer 2012, transforming it into an elegant new space to house the law library’s rare books and special collections.

Professor co-authors article on ‘Gender Disparity in Video Game Usage’

Dr. Mark Cruea, Ohio Northern University assistant professor of communications studies, and Dr. Sung-Yeon Park of Bowling Green State University co-authored an article, “Gender Disparity in Video Game Usage: A Third-person Perception-based Explanation” that has been published in the refereed scholarly journal Media Psychology.

Cruea said the study took a close look at the disparity in video game play between men and women based on perceptions of video game usage and the influence of unrealistic body images on game players.

Ada HS band Best Auxiliary Class C, Best Percussion Class C; 1st Class C band at Revere

The Ada High School Marching Band traveled to Richfield, near Cleveland, on Sept. 29 and performed in Class C (small school) competition at the Seventh Annual Revere High School Marching Band Invitational, hosted by the Revere Marching Minutemen.
