Two special programs open to the public are on the Ada Public Library calendar this week.
The History of Warfare
The first of a multi-part series on The History of Warfare, presented by John Lomax, retired professor of history at Ohio Northern University, takes place Wednesday.
The initial program is from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, which centers on “Germanic tribal warfare.” The series continues with programs at the same time on the following Wednesdays:
• Feb. 27 – Chivalric warfare
• March 6 – Gunpowder revolution
• March 13 – Industrial total warfare
• March 20 – Asymetric warfare
Essential oil program Saturday
Also this week, the library hosts a program on essential oils. The program is a hands-on course at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16.
The course covers some of the follow subjects:
Bergamot: skin healing and anxiety-reducing
Chamomile: cold, fevers and nausea
Clove: dental and pain-relieving
Eucalyptus: topical pain-reliever and decongestant
Frankincense: mood-enhancer and stress-reducer
Lavender: calming and sleep-inducing
Lemon: a natural household cleaner and disinfectant
Oregano: skin-healing
Peppermint: cold and flu prevention and energy-booster
Rosemary: skin and hair health and joint pain
