Hardin County Crime Task Force acts

Acting on information developed by a narcotics investigation, the Hardin County Crime Task Force served a search warrant at 705 E. Franklin St. Kenton at 4:00 pm yesterday, August 23rd.   

Heroin, marijuana, prescription pills and cash were seized.  One person was arrested and lodged at the Multi-County Correctional Center in Marion.  

The Task Force was assisted by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Kenton and Forest Police Departments, The Hardin County Prosecutor’s Office and Hardin County Children’s Services.

Ada Kiwanis Club Meeting Notice

The Ada Kiwanis Club will meet on Tuesday August 29th at 12:00 noon in the Dean's Heritage Room, McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University, Ada.

Seven county visits in September

University Mobile Health Clinic offering free health screenings to area residents

The Ohio Northern University Mobile Health Clinic will offer health screenings free of charge at the Forest, food pantry from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at the Forest United Methodist Church, 111 E. Dixon St., Forest.

The 38-foot bus is in its first season of operation by the College of Pharmacy’s ONU HealthWise outreach efforts.

ONU HealthWise has provided health outreach services in Hardin County since 2015, when the College of Pharmacy received a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant. Thanks to recent support from CVS and Mercy Health in Lima, the mobile clinic has an official set of wheels.

The Icon dog of the week - Duke

Meet Duke. Duke is 6 year old, male Shih Tzu mix. He weighs 21 pounds. Can you provide Duke with his forever home?

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.

Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.

The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.

Brauen's Gourds open house Sept. 2-3

Don and Jodi Brauen will host a fall open house for Brauen's Gourds on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2 and 3.

The open house is at their farm at 7140 Tom Fett Road, Bluffton. Hours are:
• Saturday, Sept. 2 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Sunday, Sept. 3 - 1 to 4 p.m.
