Hothouse beauty

Even with today's warm August temperatures, both the start of school and the peaking colors of the blooms throughout Ada put us on the edge of fall.  That is just one more reason to soak it all in.

Diabetic cooking class starting in September

A cooking class especially for diabetics, “Dining with Diabetes”, will be beginning Monday, September 23 at 5 p.m., in Kenton. 

The class is being coordinated and taught by Kathy Oliver, OSU Extension Educator, Bernadette Coats, Hardin Memorial Hospital Certified Diabetes Educator, and Beth Hull, Hardin County YMCA.

Dining With Diabetes is a three evening cooking school and a nutrition education program. The course will teach diabetics about caring for their diabetes and how to include more physical activity into your day.  A variety of main dishes, side dishes and desserts will be tried over the course of the class.   

Hardin County Farm Bureau meeting on Thursday

The Hardin County Farm Bureau annual meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 22 at The Plaza Inn Restaurant in Mt. Victory. 

A reception will begin at 6 p.m. for a brief social hour and dinner will be served promptly at 6:30 p.m. Following dinner a brief business meeting, voting, recognitions and awards will take place.

Ada Area Chamber of Commerce holds first meeting of season on Wednesday

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce Membership meeting will be held Wednesday, August 21 at 8 a.m. at the Community Health Professionals building, 1200 South Main St., Ada.

According to Deb Curliss, president of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, this is the first monthly meeting of the 2013-14 chamber season and membership will discuss planning for fall and winter season events.  

 

A nice day to start school

Just enough of a warm breeze to keep the flag busy at the Depot on Monday.  If this were a story problem on your first day of school, we'd have you figure out the formula for the number of roof tiles on the Ada Depot.
