2024 "Done" list?

Before we dive into our 2025 resolutions and to-do lists, have you celebrated a 2024 done list? In the past 12 months, Ada, Ohio has witnessed the creation of several downtown businesses, the opening of an expanded Wilson football factory, the first Ada Distinguished Awards event and much more--including the April 8 total solar eclipse.

Bettinger selected as 2025 honoree by Ada Alumni Association

The Ada Exempted Village Schools has announced that Walter W. Bettinger II has been selected as the 2025 inductee into the Ada High School Alumni Hall of Honor. The school district will celebrate this honor as well as the 2024 Scholarship Recipient on Saturday, January 11 with a 5:00 p.m. reception at the cafeteria.

Suspect found in thefts in Village of Forest

UPDATE: The suspect described below has been located and taken into custody.

Hardin County deputies are requesting assistance from the public in identifying  a subject responsible for multiple thefts that occurred in the Village of Forest at approximately 9:00 a.m. on December 31, 2024.

Bulldog boys basketball loss at Lincolnview

VAN WERT – The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team lost 52-47 to former Northwest Conference foe Lincolnview on December 30 to end their six-game win streak.

The Bulldogs led 36-35 after three periods, but the Lancers outscored the visitors 17-11 in the fourth quarter to pull off the five-point win.

Ada committed six costly turnovers in the final stanza.

The road warrior Bulldogs fell to 8-3 overall with the defeat, their third away game in four days. Lincolnview improved to 3-5 after the home win.

“We didn’t guard well,” said Ada head coach Chris Sautter. “We had foul trouble, and turned the ball over way too much.

“Lincolnview was the aggressor, and had us on our heels,” he noted. “They were more physical than us in the paint.”

Jane M. Gilbert worked for Speedway

Jane M. Gilbert, age 62, of Lima, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. 

She was born on June 2, 1962 in Lima, Ohio to Gene and Irene (Onken) Ericson. Her father, Gene preceded her in death and her mother, Irene survives in Martinsburg, WV. On March 15, 2013 Jane married Robert E. Gilbert and he preceded her in death on December 23, 2017.
